Roster of the Dead

The New York Times has published a roster of our dead soldiers; when I saw it I began to ponder why publish it in such fashion? However, it is a known fact the NYT has always portrayed the war with contempt. More puzzling was to see this roster displayed in the foyer of my church in Fort Lauderdale, FL with no counter point.

We Christian and the secular world mourn the lost of our brave soldiers. We may not agree with the war, yet we can agree on their selflessness and heroism to fight the enemy and defend the United Stated of America. To remember them just as dead soldiers diminishes the meaning of their freely accepted sacrifice. Now this is paramount because our dead heroes put aside their families and businesses for something greater than themselves; the love for a God given freedom that is being threaten.

Conversely, we do have the most horrific roster in our soil that began 1973 (Roe vs. Wade) and have left us with over 45 million dead innocent babies. Our babies had no protection and no choice. Where is the outcry?

For Christians the death of our soldiers is a remembrance of the greatest sacrifice there was in the history of humanity, the death of the Lord Jesus Christ, the blameless, the perfect, the most humble human God.
